Partial Dentures (Hooked Dentures)

Partial Dentures (Hooked Dentures)

These are dentures designed for situations where a fixed denture is not possible. They are so-called because they are supported by clasps (hooks) attached to the teeth. This is a procedure that takes 4-5 sessions.

Is Hooked Dentures Difficult To Use?

While it's much better than a full denture in terms of ease of use and comfort, it doesn't have the same effectiveness as a fixed denture. These dentures contain metal components in the palate area of the upper jaw and under the tongue of the lower jaw. While the metal component can be difficult to get used to at first, patients eventually find their dentures comfortable without even noticing them. Cleaning is similar to that of a full denture.

Are Partial Dentures Easy To Repair In The Event Of A Problem

Because they are held in place by clasps, they are immobile, but over time, the clasps can loosen, and in this case, they can be tightened back into place. Care should be taken not to damage the clasps during insertion and removal of the denture. After ensuring the denture fits properly, the mouth should be closed; do not attempt to insert the denture by closing it. In cases of tooth loss, fracture, or broken clasp, repairs are possible, just like with full dentures. The primary concern with partial dentures is the condition of the supporting teeth. If the supporting tooth is lost, the denture must be replaced.
