Crown Length Extension Procedure
The gum tissue, or if necessary, some of the underlying bone, is removed to lengthen the visible part of the tooth. If the fracture or decay is deep below the gum, the tooth may need to be lengthened to ensure a proper fit for the restoration. Under local anesthesia, the gum tissue is lifted and stitched. The healing process is usually 1-2 weeks. If bone shaping is also performed, recovery can take 6-8 weeks. Oral care should be followed as recommended by your dentist after the procedure.
